Being a volunteer gave me some of the greatest opportunities of my life. It taught me how to care, how to act, how to lead, how to follow. It also taught me so many invaluable soft skills and out-of-the-ordinary hard ones, such as... assembling an inflatable emergency tent.
I often list my volunteering activities as my first job experiences and probably my most rewarding ones, both to my heart and to my portfolio of abilities. My approach is to apply knowledge for good, experiment with no risk (no money involved) and high reward (betterment of society and people). I see volunteering as the best practice field to implement the toolkit that will allow me to succeed in work - and life.
